The Region II Trauma and Medical Center, a secondary hospital is tasked to provide the people of Region 2, strategically the people of Nueva Vizcaya and neighboring provinces, an efficient and effective health care services. It was designated by the Department of Health as the Trauma and Blood Center of the area and being the end referral hospital of the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Quirino and Southern Isabela. It also serves patients from Cagayan and Nueva Ecija.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11081 on September 28, 2018, changing the name of Veterans Regional Hospital to Region II Trauma and Medical Center, and increasing the bed capacity from two hundred (200) to five hundred (500), upgrading its services, facilities and professional health care, authorizing the increase of its medical personnel.
